TAC physiotherapy in Victoria

After a transport accident, know the next step.

We provide assessment and goal-directed physiotherapy for accident-related injuries while helping you understand the information our clinic needs. TAC—not Physio Cure—decides funding and approvals.

Current 2026 policy

TAC EIPF ended on 1 February 2026

Physiotherapy delivered from that date is billed under the current TAC Physiotherapy fee schedule and managed under the TAC Allied Health (Physiotherapy) Policy. This page does not describe TAC treatment as EIPF.

Approval checkpoint

Where are you in your recovery?

The timing of treatment and any break in TAC-funded care affect approval requirements.

Within the first 90 days

Prior TAC approval may not be required

TAC states you do not need to contact it for approval first when you have a TAC claim number, a doctor or other health professional recommends physiotherapy, and treatment is for your transport-accident injuries.

All three conditions must be satisfied. Funding is still subject to TAC rules and reasonable costs.

Near or after 90 days

Check TAC approval before funded care

Contact TAC if it is close to or more than 90 days since the accident and further treatment has not already been approved, or if more than six months have passed since any TAC-paid treatment or service.

Do not rely on an appointment booking as proof of TAC approval.

Physio Cure can explain its clinic process but cannot approve a TAC claim, extend funding or promise reimbursement.

Billing and payment

Know the payment arrangement before treatment

TAC describes two payment pathways for approved services: TAC may pay the provider at the TAC rate, or you may pay the provider and TAC may reimburse you at the TAC rate.

  • If a provider charges more than the TAC rate, a gap payment may apply.
  • Reception will confirm this clinic’s current billing arrangement.
  • TAC decides whether a treatment or service is payable.
  • Keep receipts if you are using the reimbursement pathway.

Physio Cure does not promise that TAC will fund every item, report, technique or appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Before you book

For an approval decision, contact TAC. Reception can explain the clinic’s appointment and billing process.

Email reception
Do I need TAC approval in the first 90 days?

TAC says prior approval is not required when you have a TAC claim number, a doctor or health professional recommends physiotherapy, and treatment is for accident injuries. If any requirement is unclear, confirm it with TAC.

What happens after 90 days?

If it is close to or more than 90 days since the accident and further treatment has not already been approved, contact TAC before relying on funded treatment.

What if I have not had TAC-paid treatment for six months?

TAC says approval is needed when more than six months have passed since any treatment or service was paid for by TAC.

Is TAC physiotherapy still under EIPF?

No. TAC states that EIPF ceased to be effective from 1 February 2026. Current physiotherapy follows the TAC Allied Health Physiotherapy Policy and fee schedule.

Will I have a gap fee?

A gap may apply if the clinic fee is higher than the TAC payment rate. Ask reception to confirm the current arrangement before treatment.

Can TAC stop or review treatment funding?

TAC may review progress, clinical justification and outcomes when deciding what it can pay for and for how long. Physio Cure cannot guarantee ongoing approval.
